Losing the Rudder in the Middle of the Race

Loosing the rudder in the middle of a race is a very serious issue, especially when it happens during a difficult regatta. The regatta Jabuka is one of the most challenging sailing races in Croatia. It starts in the town of Vodice, in mid November at midnight, travels through the high seas and strong winds of the open sea, around the islet of Jabuka. It is both dangerous and exciting, and can present many dangers.

Sail Around the World with Their Three Year Old Daughter

Kim and Simon Brown, experienced sailors, decided to take their three year old daughter on a three year sailing trip around the world. They found themselves at the target of very unpleasant public criticism, but decided to go with their plan anyway. Have You Seen a Sea Turtle?

Sea turtles, that have a lifespan of up to 200 years, are in major threat due to humans. It is estimated that some 2500 sea turtles are caught by trawling nets in the eastern Adriatic and 3600 more in the western Adriatic every year. What About Skipper’s Discretion?

There are a lot of virtues a good skipper should have. One of the most important ones is discretion. Not sharing photos, signing a statement of discretion and talking to third parties what was heard on the yacht. But what about when a skipper is a witness of an unpleasant situation?
