Good news for sailors come from Pirovac, a small place on Croatian coast, located in the bay of the same name, some 30 km north from Šibenik, on the road to Zadar. A brand new marina is finally going to be built. It is the finalization of the project that started eight years ago. It is interesting that two opposite political options within local authorities supported this project and prepared it in order to make it easier for the investor to finalize it.
Another interesting fact about the new marina is that Croatian investor won the contest and got the concession for 20 years. It is the Adriatic Charter, Croatian company with great experience in charter business. The new marina in Pirovac should open its doors at the beginning of 2015. Brand new wave breaker should be built in order to protect a part of Pirovac port and the marina equipped with some 200 mooring berths. It is announced that marina is going to be equipped with standard marina facilities such as fresh water and electric current connectors, shower and toilets area, car parking area, repair shop and charter agency. Fuel station already exists in the vicinity.
Another marina has opened its doors just recently in Trogir. It is the Servisni centar Trogir (Service Center Trogir). This is the third marina in the surroundings. The oldest one, ACI marina Trogir is located just opposite the historic centre of Trogir. The second one, Marina Baotić Seget found its place not more than one km away from the city center. The latest one, Servisni centar Trogir, is built as the extension of ACI Trogir, opposite of the city.
This marina is built as the first step of the renovation project of the old shipyard Brodotrogir which has waited for privatization and new investments for years. The new owners of the shipyard intend to build a marina of the highest category with both dry berths and those in the water.
Furthermore, they intend to offer total refit and maintenance of all types of yachts, along with smaller vessels of all purposes. The first phase of the project was completed recently – the marina is equipped with 133 mooring berths for yachts sizes between 12 and 60 m; and 80 dry berths for vessels between 10 and 24 m. Facilities such as car parking area with 24/7 security service, supermarket, restaurant and bar, laundry and mechanic, electric and electronic workshops, nautical equipment shop, dismasting purposes equipment, rigging services, a yacht wash up waste water treatment plant, carpentry and plastic repair shop; are announced within the first phase of the marina project and are currently under construction.
The second phase which is planned to be concluded until May 2015 includes another 256 berths in the water, for yachts between 12 and 60 m, 120 dry berths for yachts between 10 and 40 m, 600 t and 100 t travel lifts and indoor service zone for yachts up to 35 m of LOA. The third phase includes complete refit services and some 30 berths for mega yachts between 50 and over 100 m.
One step at the time… At the moment it is important to remember that yachtsmen visiting Trogir can count on a brand new marina, just opposite Trogir town historic centre, protected by UNESCO as a world heritage monument.
